What You Love

Thank you, Suzanne, for choosing me.  I’ve been collecting quotes all my life.  To me, they are like whispers through all the ages of time saying, “I understand what you are going through.  I really do. I’ve been where you are.  Let me tell you what I think.”

When I was low one day, I decided to try something. I identified my strongest negative feeling.  Then I looked for the opposite emotion or state of that feeling and searched for quotes about it.  So for me, that day, it was fear for my missing son.  There were many antonyms for fear, including faith, but the one that spoke to me most was love.  I read quotes about love until I felt better.  It really worked, and I have returned to this method often.

Saint Paul’s beautiful letter to the Corinthian Church has always been for me one of the best definitions of love.   One day, a friend suggested I put the word “I” in place of the word “Love” and that really brought it home for me.

 

Actually, like Suzanne, I have to share a third.  It’s from a game called SSX Tricky, quoted by my favorite character, Brodi.  He was voiced by the talented Billy Zane.
